What is BLOGthenticity?

Here’s a little test.
If we take BLOGthenticity to mean blogging authentically, then what does authenticity in reference to blogging mean to you?

I’ll bite… how about an authentic voice.
A blog author that is not afraid to show their personality … not afraid to take a stand, make a point and challenge the status quo. I don’t mean outrageous behaviour … just letting that personality flow and showing that the business is important to them not merely for the sales, but the experience.
You can exhibit a concern for your customers regardless of whether you’re selling widgets or performing crucial medical services, ya’ know.
Simply put, I can read the blog and have a feel for who is running the store.
How’s that?
That’ll do, Robert. And I’m not just saying that because it’s you.
I think blogs are very much a soft sell rather than a hard sell. I often feel slightly uncomfortable with the idea of peddling our services and products, and that’s what it’s there for!
I honestly do think you should be able to talk to anybody through your blog as you would if they were your best customer who you played golf with every Friday and went out drinking with quite regularly. You know, the business is secondary, but it’s given that you’re the man for the job.
Some people might not like you. but they probably wouldn’t have liked you if they met you either. Wouldn’t we all rather do business with people we got on with? A blog allows you to make that judgement perfectly.
