Blog Nanny 911
Honestly, you go away for a couple of weeks and the next thing you know all manner of doodah is hitting the fan here at BLOGthenticity.
But as far as I’m concerned, that’s a great thing. A little bit of controversy and debate never hurt anybody.
I’d also like to thank my fellow contributors for some truly exceptional posts. The current set of posts, comments and discussions are exactly what I’d hoped for and envisaged in an ideal BLOGthenticity world and I have to say I’m extremely honoured to be associated with such a fine bunch.
It’s not only BLOGthenticity that I’ve been away from in the past fortnight, but my business blogs aswell. Being away on business coupled with a home computer that’s given up the ghost has left me in a curious state of blog limbo.
And it brings me nicely round to the idea of what your ideal attention level should be regarding your blog.
I attempt to post daily. That’s my goal and you have to remember that whatever your posting guidelines are, that’s what’s expected of you. In the mere space of a week I saw a 50% drop in traffic to The Tinbasher, which is already creeping back to the levels from whence it came.
But it isn’t just about traffic - there’s also the conversations you have with with other blogs and keeping youself abreast of whatever developments may be going on. The BLOGthenticity Gourmet Station debate being a case in question that I’ve unfortunately missed.
I don’t actually have any bambinos (well none that I know of) but for me blogs are very much what I’d expect from a child.
Both blogs and babies need feeding and watering on a regular basis unless they may die an untimely death. (Whatever anyone might tell you, infanticide is a far more serious crime than blogicide.) You have to ensure that your blog is fed and watered with posts and comments - the more you nourish either, the bigger and better they’ll develop. You even have to take it for walks round other blogs to enhance its social standing amongst other blog parents. Yes, you’ve even got to clean a blog’s nappy of all the comment and trackback spam. It’s a darned dirty job sometimes and someone has to do it - namely you.
The major difference between the two is that a bairn will gladly bawl its eyes out until it receives the attention it so badly requires, whereas the more you leave a blog, the quieter it’ll become.
However, both parenting and blogging becomes infinitely easier if you employ a nanny.
It also becomes infinitely less rewarding.

Is your nannying style similar to Super Nanny television program?
If so, looks like I’ll be spending a lot of time on the Naughty Chair, so please provide a psychedelic paisley cushion.
